Inspiring the Future Mariners: A Motivational Talk by Indian Officers at Sainik School Nagrota
A motivational lecture was held in Lakshya Hall on 04 October 2025, where three distinguished officers of the Indian Navy — Lt Cdr Davis Veedon, Lt Cdr Prerna Sharma, and Lt Cdr Sumit Chavan — inspired cadets with insights into naval life, career opportunities, and the multifaceted role of the Indian Navy.
The officers delivered a series of engaging sessions highlighting the Navy’s vital contributions — from maritime security and combat operations to humanitarian relief during natural disasters.
Lt Cdr Davis Veedon introduced cadets to various branches and career pathways in the Navy, while sharing inspiring stories from India’s maritime heritage, including the legacy of HMS Trincomalee — a symbol of Indian craftsmanship and naval pride.
Lt Cdr Prerna Sharma explained the selection procedures and diverse professional avenues within the Navy, sparking great interest among the young audience.
Lt Cdr Sumit Chavan elaborated on the Agneepath Scheme, offering valuable insights into naval training, discipline, and the spirit of service that defines life in the Navy. His message that “the Indian Navy is not just a profession but a way of life” resonated deeply with the cadets. The school community expressed heartfelt gratitude to the officers for their time, dedication, and service to the nation. During a brief felicitation ceremony, the Principal, Capt (IN) Shibu Devasia, presented tokens of appreciation and encouraged cadets to draw inspiration from the officers’ words to pursue a career of honour and pride in the Indian Navy.
